Nineteenth century

C19th evidence for Holmfirth boundaries. These are depositions made by shepherds, probably taken by the Commissioners under the 1828 Act for the enclosure of the Graveship of Holme. They relate to the moorland boundaries with Saddleworth (then within the West Riding) and Cheshire. Transcribed by Peter Burton of the Holmfirth Local History Group.

George Sykes, born in the nineteenth century, as an old man wrote the reminiscences of his youth in Holmfirth. These have been transcribed by David Cockman of the Holmfirth Local History Group.
